The Magic of Our Senses

Our senses make us feel the world. We see, we smell, we ear, we taste, and we touch the environment around us through them. Without our senses, we would be unable to enjoy life with our friends and family. But, should we blindly trust our senses? For centuries, magicians have been playing with our minds, but also our senses. They manipulated them so that we can all experience wonder. Until recently, scientists were unable to explain how our brains and our senses worked under magic. But now, they have a better view. To help us discover those findings, Alex Si will guide your guests through a journey into our brain. In this edu-taining lecture-show, he explores and explains how our brains react during a magical performance, why our senses can be fooled, and thus creating a new reality where everything becomes possible. Conference #2

Remember everything: Use your memory the right way!

Have you ever forgotten your professional card PIN code? Have you ever forgotten the name of a lead you met a few minutes ago? Have you ever entered a room and forgot why you entered it? If any of those applies, then you're in luck! Alex Si, magician-mentalist and speaker, offers an entertaining and insightful lecture-show about enhancing your memory. Alex starts by demonstrating that we all already have a powerful memory. But that we often use it in the wrong way or with the wrong tools! (Which is normal as we were never taught how our memory systems – yes, plural! – work.) He also teaches several memory techniques, so that you’ll leave the workshop knowing how to better remember faces and names, numbers, or speeches. Alex will of course demonstrate those techniques first. He finally shares stories and facts about memory champions and ancient Greeks to help you better understand where do those techniques come from, and how they could be useful in an age where we exported our memories, knowledge, and contacts to our smartphones. Conference #3

Decide while avoiding the traps laid by your brain

Bet on a new technology or wait until it has been proven? Develop a new software or improve the one in place? Launch a new product or increase current marketing actions? We all make decisions daily. Often, they are simple: obvious solutions, well-known context, predictable results. But frequently, we have to face more complex decisions: incomplete solutions, uncertain or unknown context, unpredictable results. What if you didn't hold all the cards in your hands to make a decision with full knowledge of the facts? What if your brain played tricks daily on you and prevented you to know about some cards? What if everything was so automatic that you were a complete unconscious victim of it? As a magician-mentalist, Alex studied and exploited, during his shows, a combination of your automatic thinking processes to make you experience an extraordinary moment. In this lecture-show, he reveals the ways our brain deludes us on a day to day basis, he explains to your participants how to prevent such mental illusions, and how they can avoid the traps laid for them when making decisions. The content of this lecture-show is based on the research in behavioral psychologie (mainly from Daniel Kahneman on cognitive biases,) in behavioral economics (mainly Dan Ariely on our predictable irrationality,) and influence (mainly Robert Cialdini, Robert-Vincent Joule, and Jean-Léon Beauvois.) Conference #4

Magician-Mentalist and Emcee

Far from clichés, card and coin tricks seen a thousand times, Alex Si offers a magical experience that is unique, entertaining and artistic. He loves to boost people's morale combining uplifting ideas with his astonishing magic, and to cast a spell filled with energy and amazement on his audience. As master of ceremonies (emcee) during your conferences and events, he adds his magic and entertainment to your event. His speciality is to be clear, to-the-point, and energizing. For him, the best emcee is the one who eases the flow, leading participants smoothly through the event rather than trying to outshine the stars of the event. When an unexpected glitch occurs, he knows exactly how to resolve it by entertaining the participants. The show must go on no matter what and before anyone notices any snags or dead time! Working for 15 years as an IT and technology engineer and expert in several companies (France Télécom / Orange, Société Générale BDDF, SFR-Cegetel-Bouygues, Haulogy, BNP Paribas Asset Management,) Alex is completely at ease during events where technologies or computing sciences are the core element. He also advised and supported a few start-ups in their technological challenges. Though these experiences, Alex was able to develop his taste for innovation and creation and ideation processes. In parallel of his first professional career, Alex has been studying magic for more than 10 years with master magicians, travelling as far as Las Vegas to study at the McBride Magic & Mystery School the most prestigious magic school in the world according to the BBC, by whom he's been named Ambassador, in 2018. His other areas of expertise are the psychology and (neuro)science behind the art of magic, and their concrete day-to-day application in domains such as decision-making, innovation or communication, and to develop skills like our memory. Additionally, he can adapt his talks to your theme, bridging his expertise with your topic. Finally, as a Frenchman, French is not an issue. And when he speaks in English, his French-accent help him be loved by everyone. More info at www.alex-si.com/en/emcee/
