Capucine Lemaire
Disability: "We are not born disabled; we become disabled by an environment that denies us."
Capucine Lemaire is the founding president of the Observatory of Disability Policies, the international NGO she founded in 2021, after her background as an art historian at the École Pratique des Hautes Études (EPHE - PSL) and her preparation for the entrance exam to the École Nationale d'Administration (ENA). An author and speaker, she is also a member of the editorial board of the Review of Neurodiversity in Montreal, Canada, and a member of the scientific committee of the Italian economic and political journal IL PONTE in Florence, Italy. As a researcher, she publishes her work for newspapers and journals, contributes to academic works and conferences in France and Europe, and to collective works (Editions de l'Atelier). She has been writing a regular column in the Review of Human Sexualities of the UNESCO Chair on Sexual Health and Human Rights since 2023. Her research focuses on the anti-ableist movement in relation to democracy and capitalism, as well as on arts and disability.
