Dr. Hélène Drouin is an anesthesiologist, speaker, and bilingual French-English, trained in France and the United Kingdom. Alongside her medical practice, she became in 2021 the youngest French woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest. She has also sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and crossed the Pacific Ocean aboard the Dixmude of the French Navy. These experiences have been covered by numerous national media outlets, including France 2, France 3, France 5, BFM TV, M6, and L'Équipe. She is currently an ambassador for the Hepatology Institute of Lyon, the first center in France entirely dedicated to liver diseases, currently under construction in Lyon. Mount Everest taught her calculated risk-taking; anesthesiology-resuscitation taught her to analyze high-stakes situations with incomplete information, prioritize actions, delegate while maintaining overall responsibility, and anticipate cognitive biases as well as human errors.
