HOW SPORT CAN INSPIRE BUSINESS

In sports, it is when the coach says, 'I trust my athletes,' and they say, 'We trust our coach,' that trust is established and performances follow. The same applies in business, where teams only succeed in challenges if they are united and driven by the desire to win. My work as a researcher in sports science and a sports psychologist with top champions has taught me to identify 'good' practices and to repair the dysfunctions of coaches, their teams, and their athletes. My talks demonstrate how this expertise can inspire business. I start from the experiences of the champions I have followed on-site, which I combine with the necessary management knowledge to arrive at applications. I describe the conditions of trust that rely on the psychology of the 'good' coach-manager and their mastery of the soft skills necessary to achieve challenges*. In particular: - Achieving a consensual organization of the statuses and roles of collaborators - Avoiding command errors - Awakening team spirit - Adhering to the company's values - Encouraging initiative and creativity - Ensuring that challenges are realistic - Anticipating crises and defusing them - Cooling down in the moment and debriefing later * I described these soft skills and how to acquire them in 'How Sport Can Inspire Business' by Hubert Ripoll and Patricia Paranque, Enrick B. Éditions, 2023.
