Dark Social is one of the most complex challenges facing marketing professionals. This phenomenon refers to all online interactions that occur outside of traditional marketing channels such as social media, search engines, and online advertising campaigns. It often involves link sharing through private messaging, emails, or forums. The problem is that traditional attribution models struggle to measure these out-of-reach interactions. This means that marketers may misunderstand how consumers discover, share, and engage with brands online. Marketing campaigns can then be underestimated or overvalued, leading to erroneous strategic decisions. During this conference, we will explore the challenges of Dark Social in terms of attribution and discuss how marketing professionals can overcome this issue.
