Thibaud Dumas
Neuroscientist and Digital Detox Expert
I have a PhD in neuroscience and a passion for people that has allowed me to co-found a startup company, speak at a Tedx event, and publish a book. I’ve lectured for over seven years at multiple universities including Parisian universities, Digital School of Paris and Novancia. My ability to research and share information has also allowed me to coach other entrepreneurs in their endeavors, and I’ve mentored multiple winning groups in entrepreneurship and innovation competitions in France and Australia. I believe it is my competence and ability to bring personality to these projects that has allowed me to make this kind of impact in my field. Currently, I work as the Training and Research Director at “Into the Tribe.” This agency offers digital detox seminars and workshops that immerse clients in a new mindset which allows for greater creativity, connection, and reduces workplace stress. I am able to make concepts in neuroscience more accessible so that people can optimize the way they relate to themselves and the way they operate. Today, people are struggling with a slew of bad habits and addictions caused by overuse of technology. I believe technology should be a tool we use with self-awareness to create an optimized state at work and in our personal lives. After working for four years in a startup company that invented a new way to utilize EEG technology, I have witnessed consistent transformation which has supplemented that research. I am also passionate about traveling and have been lucky enough to take multiple trips around the world for multiple business ventures. Other personal experiences have involved traveling the world to expand my insight of world cultures and enjoy personal adventures. I’m particularly adept at scuba diving and have an instructor certification. Whether it’s the open ocean or our open minds, I love to make these overwhelming landscapes more accessible and enjoyable for the people I work with.

OUR BRAIN IN THE DIGITAL AGE: THE INTEREST OF DIGITAL DETOX
Neuroscientist specializing in digital detox. I hold a PhD in Cognitive Neurosciences. What is hyperconnection and what are its impacts on our health and the functioning of our brain? Understanding the relationship between our brain and new technologies, particularly smartphones and the internet. Key points: - Are we hyperconnected? - What is hyperconnection and what are its manifestations in our daily lives? - Addiction to smartphones and the internet: myth or reality? - Why does our brain love social media so much? - Why does 'disconnecting' or being better connected benefit our brain? After completing my thesis at the Brain and Spine Institute - Pitié Salpêtrière Hospital (Paris), I co-founded a company in the field of neurotechnologies (numerous innovation awards, CES awards, etc.) and am now in charge of research at Into the Tribe (bronze medal at the QVT trophies). I am interested in the relationship between the functioning of our brain and new technologies, and how we could better use and/or design the latter for our benefit and improve our health and well-being, both in personal and professional spheres. In parallel, I produced and hosted scientific popularization radio shows for 10 years, notably for France Culture. I am a trainer, speaker, and author of the book “The Brain” published by Mango editions in March 2018, as well as a new work on Digital Detox that will be released in bookstores in March 2019.
