Conference #1

Professional Expertise: From Common Risk to Specific Risk

Through this conference, I present an analytical framework that allows everyone to quickly develop expertise in a chosen field. This method enables the development and maintenance of skills, for oneself or for one's teams. I draw on over 20 years of practical experience in the field, where I have worked with colleagues specialized in managing specific risks during rescue operations. This analysis addresses both technical and relational skills that significantly enhance one's level of expertise.

Conference #2

The Obedience of Friendship: How to Implement It in the Workplace?

Discipline is the obedience of friendship, excerpted from the old regulations for instruction and maneuvers of the municipal firefighters from 1954. Originating from the motto of General Frère (I obey out of friendship) and more recently cited by General Pierre de Villiers in his works, this little-known concept is at the heart of effective human leadership. The obedience of friendship means obeying with pleasure. It also leads to better feedback and a safer team. In this conference, we will explore an essential aspect of our work as firefighters: the obedience of friendship. This concept goes beyond traditional obedience and is rooted in the strong bonds that unite members of a firefighting team. I will share personal experiences from the various teams I have led, on how this obedience of friendship can strengthen team cohesion and effectiveness.

Conference #3

Fire Station Life: Management and Command in Firefighters

Firefighters lead operational units, the rescue centers. This network must, in a few minutes, form teams suited to provide assistance in very diverse situations. Through my 20 years of experience in operational units, I explain how daily management allows us to carry out our interventions. I draw a parallel between the tools of the manager and the tools of command. This gap between our reality and the daily work reality of a manager allows us to question our practice. This conference unfolds in 9 steps: - the fire station - the obedience of friendship - the request for assistance - the departure ticket - the rear base - the intervention and the commander of rescue operations - anticipation - the right to make mistakes - the return to the center The final objective of this conference is to illustrate that: - we should not wait for the intervention to connect with others - despite the importance of the mission and the rigor of processes, if the human element is not at the center, we must consider failure.
