Hassan Baraka
Extreme Swimmer - Author - Motivational Coach
An explorer of extremes, Hassan Baraka embodies the rare alliance between physical resilience and intellectual excellence. This impossible swimmer has distinguished himself through unique feats, defying the most hostile conditions on all continents. From the ice of the North Pole to the tumultuous waters of the Bismarck Sea, he charts a trajectory that transcends the boundaries of sport. Originally from Morocco, he has been honored by King Mohammed VI for his entire journey. His impressive record has also earned him a place in the Guinness World Records, joining a very select circle of Moroccan athletes to receive such recognition. His academic background is equally noteworthy: holding a degree in management and marketing from the Complutense University of Madrid, he continued his education with a Master's in sports management at TBS, before joining an executive leadership program at Harvard University. This wealth of training gives him a unique perspective on the links between performance, strategy, and personal development. Hassan is the first Moroccan to have crossed mythical and symbolic straits: the English Channel, the Bosphorus, as well as more distant and perilous passages like the Bering Strait, the waters between Ibiza and Formentera, or the Bismarck Sea, between Papua New Guinea and Indonesia. He sometimes accomplishes these crossings in icy waters, without any thermal protection – an extreme physical challenge that has also led him to participate in the World Ice Swimming Championships, the Ultraman, and the Ötillö swimrun. He currently holds a unique record: being the youngest swimmer in the world to have swum across all five continents. Among his other accomplishments: Two “Ice Mile” crossings in water at 4°C 120 km swum in relay in Lake Baikal The World Marathon Challenge: 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents A victory in 2022 in an extreme race at the North Pole The very rare Ice Triple Crown, achieved between 2021 and 2023 – a feat accomplished by only 13 athletes worldwide. Beyond physical endurance, Hassan Baraka shares his human and mental experience. A certified coach in NLP and International Leadership Management, he regularly speaks in companies to address themes such as leadership, decision-making under stress, team cohesion, and the ability to innovate and think outside the box. Always in search of new horizons, he is preparing for other ambitious maritime challenges: a new crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar (his 4th), a swim around Manhattan (50 km), a route between Fort Boyard and La Rochelle (20 km), as well as a major expedition planned in Antarctica in 2026. Author of two books, he published in 2017 The Power of Failure, where he recounts his early adventures and his philosophy of perseverance. A second volume, scheduled for late 2025, will continue this narrative up to the present day. In parallel, he has recently published The Quest of the Mutant, an initiatory tale about personal development, available on Amazon.
