Interview on Societal Digital Transformation Part#1: Technological Vs Societal Transformation
Most companies confuse "Technological" digital transformation with "Societal" digital transformation...
20 years ago, the world's leading economy was UBERized...
In 1998, 625 million tourists spent $445 billion (excluding international transport), making tourism the world's leading economy. Yet in the early 2000s, new digital entrants such as Lastminute, Karavel, Vivacances, Expedia, eBookers, etc., disrupted the marketing of stays and transport ticketing. Why IoT and Big Data Will Revolutionize Distribution...
These two unimaginable phenomena just 20 years ago are now the result of advancements in wireless communications and the storage and computing power of computers.... Indeed, today we can, for a minimal cost, send and receive data anywhere and anytime and intelligently manipulate terabytes per second! From cars to coffee makers to washing machines, every object can send information for a marginal cost included roughly in its selling price... The first application of a communicating object lies in its use, meaning that the user has an "interactive remote control" function for that object, and this is part of the added value of the functionalities of the object in question (I geolocate my parked car, I control the temperature of my house, or the operation of my washing machine) On the other hand, the second application of the connected object lies in its ability to send data to its designer! Indeed, for a marginal value of the product's price, one can slip in: a bit of electronics, a SIM card, a regular data channel, and on the other end, the manufacturer receives, stores, and analyzes the data sent by its devices in service across the country. Why can the connected object change the relationship between Clients->Distributor->Manufacturer?
