Hermès Garanger — Lama, Speaker, Author An extraordinary destiny serving businesses and teams. Her first name, that of the messenger of the gods in Greek mythology, perhaps already hinted at her path! Hermès Garanger grew up in France in one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist centers in Europe, founded by her parents, surrounded by Lamas who taught her meditation from childhood. At 15 and a half, she made a radical choice: to go on retreat for over 1000 days according to Buddhist tradition. For 3 years, 3 months, and 3 days, she lived in a 9 m² room, with no connection to the outside world, meditating 14 hours a day, emerging at 19 as the youngest Western Lama woman in the world. Thirty years later, this unique trajectory has transformed into a rare expertise, rooted in the reality of the professional world. A speaker at the intersection of wisdom and science. An expert speaker in meditation and a graduate in applied neuroscience, Hermès Garanger has accumulated 30,000 hours of meditation and participated in INSERM research on the benefits of meditation. She has also trained in polyvagal theory — the study of the nervous system — to offer concrete, scientifically validated tools that can be directly applied in daily life. A producer in the media for nearly 25 years, host and director of films for France Télévisions... This dual life — between spiritual retreat and television sets — gives her a rare ability to share her experience with humor and authenticity. What she brings to your events Her great strength lies in her ability to address numerous societal themes with depth, clarity, and simplicity. With over 150 conferences given to all types of audiences, she knows how to adapt her speech to the largest number and captivate her audience. Her interventions cover key topics for today's organizations: Meditation & neuroscience for sustainable performance Stress management, fears, and anxiety Emotional intelligence & collective success Well-being at work & mental health Kindness, coherence, and change management The role of women in the professional world She speaks at conferences, workshops, round tables, and seminars, for half a day or a full day, for all types of audiences — companies, schools, associations, healthcare personnel. Among her clients: École Polytechnique, HEC Alumni, Decathlon, Thales, LVMH, Orange, the Paris Bar, École Centrale Lyon, and the Karuna Shechen association of Matthieu Ricard. A commitment that goes further... Hermès Garanger donates a portion of her speaking fees to humanitarian, environmental, and educational causes. Engaging her also means supporting a sincere and altruistic commitment. Author of the autobiographical book Lama at 19… And after? (Claire Lumière Editions, 2018), she has given over 55 interviews on television, in the press, and on the radio. Hermès Garanger does not fit into any box. And that is precisely what gives her interventions their power.

How to reduce "stress, fear, and anxiety" through understanding our nervous system (Vagus Nerve)?

Who has never heard of the Vagus Nerve, the famous "Nerve of Happiness" that all health magazines praise and which could well be the key to new perspectives? Naturally curious, when I read the first scientific studies on this nerve with unsuspected capabilities, I became closely interested in it and trained in the "Polyvagal Theory" (study of the nervous system) developed by American neuroscientist Dr. Stephen Porges. For several years now, not a day goes by without me applying this scientific approach in my daily life and sharing it during my conferences and workshops. This framework for understanding our autonomic nervous system allows us to comprehend the mechanisms of our emotions and behaviors through 3 distinct states orchestrated by our dear vagus nerve throughout the day. According to recent studies, 85% of the population cannot manage stress, fear, or anxiety... reacting instead with flight, the sensation of fight, or inhibition in the face of an unexpected, uncomfortable, or sudden situation rather than facing it with discernment, calm, or perspective. Understanding how our nervous system works could, however, change the course of our lives through more appropriate reactions, behaviors, or emotions. This understanding would also allow us to make better choices rather than endure certain situations related to our states! Who has never heard this phrase that can sometimes be annoying: "In life, we always have a choice"? Yes, but one must know how to choose... and especially make choices when our nervous system is regulated while 85% of the population would have a dysregulated nervous system! A figure that does not really surprise me since ultimately no one teaches us as children to regulate our nervous system, which would allow us to act or react better in the face of complicated or unpleasant situations we will encounter throughout our lives! Reducing stress, fear, and anxiety then becomes possible and accessible for anyone who wants to discover how to use the vagus nerve and especially how to regulate it to benefit from it! What if our well-being depended on good mental health?

In a constantly evolving world, well-being has become one of the essential priorities, both in the professional realm and in private life. But one must know how to develop this well-being and especially how to make it sustainable despite external circumstances! While we tend to take care of our bodies through sports, nutrition, or moments of relaxation, it is less common to be concerned about our inner well-being or mental health. And yet! According to a WHO report published in July 2022: 1 in 8 people live with a mental disorder worldwide 1 in 5 in conflict zones And depression is expected to rank first among global diseases by 2030, in just 7 years! So, as good mental health seems to be the issue of the century, I like to pose this question during my conferences: "Why wait to suffer to feel good?... Why wait to be unwell to start meditating?" To understand how one can develop this sought-after
