The Power and Its Abuses
Whether it touches the personal or professional sphere, power frightens us as much as it excites us. However, power invites itself everywhere; it is inevitable. Wanting to thrive professionally and succeed in our lives are completely legitimate and confessable dreams, but gaining power remains a guilty desire... This embarrassment, however, does not prevent us from secretly questioning our own relationship with power. Is it so desirable? Does it not scare us after all? What are its hidden vices?
The Power of Appearances
What is the power of image or appearance? The power of beauty, the power of attractiveness? Also, how does this power modify the image or how does this image enhance this power? Is appearance valued in the workplace?… Beyond beauty, how does the exercise of power address this appearance and its body? In the face of stress, workload overload, infernal rhythms, imbalance between family life and professional life… Finally, what to do when health falters? When illness gains ground? Should it be hidden?
Hubris, the Disease of Power
History has shown that possessing power does not necessarily lead to good leaders; having it comes with its share of harmful effects, addictions, or other losses of bearings for leaders. Let’s revisit the disease of power that invites excess, you know, the one that mixes narcissism, arrogance, pretension, egotism, manipulation, lies, and contempt… This power that goes to the heads of some of our leaders reflects a certain form of intoxication leading to a set of beliefs and behaviors of a psycho-pathological nature and contrary to ethics. Let’s talk a little about Hubris, this disease of power.
How to Recognize and Understand the 8 Forms of Power?
Power fascinates and invites itself into our personal and professional lives. After all, doesn’t the feeling of power bring satisfaction? I propose to explore eight forms of power and examine their relationships with addiction, altruism, appearance or body, money, happiness, fame, trust, distrust, egocentrism, loss of freedom, sexuality, and solitude... These powers include: legitimate, reward, coercive, informational, expert, connection, referent, and persuasive. By questioning numerous leaders, professors, and students, this work aims to decipher the games of influence related to power and their consequences on leadership. The goal of this conference is to provide the audience with a better understanding of the concepts of power and influence, and to see how they operate on a professional level, but also on a personal level.
There are ten types of intelligence
A being is said to be intelligent if their mind is quick or measured, or if their reasoning is scientific or relevant. But what multiple skills really lie behind intelligence? And how can we detect, understand, and develop them? Supported by numerous testimonials from professionals, this conference revisits Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. Declined to a total of 9, Gardner's intelligences are here adapted to the context of the company. To these 9 intelligences is associated a 10th intelligence: artificial intelligence, now so present in our daily lives. A journey through these essential intelligences is proposed here, revealing logical, strategic, emotional, relational, creative, situational, pedagogical, bodily, existential, and finally, artificial intelligences.
Of Flesh and Silicon: Perspectives of an Enhanced Man
Let’s not kid ourselves, each of us is already or may soon be enhanced by technology in the near future. Indeed, humans already know how to repair their sick or failing bodies, and many functions can be operated with the help of prosthetics or various adapted solutions. The development of miniaturization combined with ubiquitous connectivity now allows not only the restoration of functions but also the repair of the body to enhance it, for any healthy individual desiring power and efficiency. These developments completely disrupt our relationship with the body, which until now has been experienced as a shell with programmed obsolescence, to imagine a body that is repairable and, above all, regenerable. They also disrupt our relationship with healthcare, where engineers are now poised to take precedence over doctors while closely examining the potential offered by understanding the workings of the human brain. During this talk, we will review the evolution of technologies and the relationship to humanity to project ourselves into a society of augmented humanity (or transhumanism) that greatly interests major technology multinationals.
