Valérie Duez-ruff

Lawyer, coach, speaker, author

As a labor lawyer, coach, speaker, and author, I am a true multipotentialite but with one constant: the human being. The human, with its infinite resources and flaws, which I have observed since childhood, like an entomologist. While observing, analyzing, and dissecting are my daily routine, supporting, transmitting, and sharing are the elements of my DNA. I have been committed for years to issues of gender, parenting, integration of diversity, neurodiversity (zebras, high potential, hypersensitive individuals, autism spectrum disorders), the fight against harassment and discrimination, as well as the working conditions of employees, with public authorities and in an associative capacity. I created an association to help future and young lawyer parents and held two professional mandates (Paris Bar Council and National Council of Bars). My numerous commitments led me to receive the National Order of Merit at the age of 38. In my conferences, I enjoy surprising, shaking things up, and raising awareness, but above all, sending a boost of optimism and motivation.

Conference #1

Dare to Embrace the Uniqueness of Difference!

At a time when intellectually gifted individuals are the subject of media attention, they also fuel many fantasies about their abilities. It is therefore very difficult for them to accept a uniqueness of which they are often unaware of the various implications. This is all the more true since, beyond their own reluctance, they must deal with the outside world. Indeed, in practice, it remains very hard to have one's difference accepted, whether one is gifted (high intellectual potential), ADHD (attention deficit disorder with or without hyperactivity), ASD (autism spectrum disorder), has a visible or invisible disability, or is overweight... in a social environment that still harbors many prejudices and a professional environment that does not yet embrace the richness of diversity. Through vivid illustrations, the conference will raise public awareness of their own uniqueness in order to unite around diversity.

Conference #2

2020: The End of the Old World?

When the year 2020, the hope for a 2.0 society, began, who could have imagined what awaited us, despite the warnings received in recent years? This conference was an opportunity to take stock of: - ecology and the effects of confinement, - the excesses of social media in the MeToo era with the media tribunal and the culture of spectacle, - digital tools and remote work - but also the impacts on people's perceptions, leading to cosmetic surgery operations - new professions and benchmarks with the world and the economy of influencers Before concluding with a forward-looking and hopeful statement about the future.

Conference #3

Should We Be Afraid of Women?

There are roughly the same number of women as men on Earth. Demographically, equality is thus achieved. But it is only achieved in this regard. Indeed, on a daily basis, inequalities persist and the figures are eloquent. The measures implemented by our successive governments are encouraging but, in reality, insufficient if they are not accompanied by a cultural and societal revolution through a paradigm shift. This change involves: - cultural conditioning - the condemnation of slut-shaming and, more broadly, the improvement of the perception of women and femininity - the fight against violence against women Through anecdotes and concrete illustrations, this conference encourages the audience to become aware of their own unconscious biases, with humor.

Conference #4

Humans, the new variable of capital?

The cost of work stoppages due to burnout is increasing year after year, and burnout syndrome is even considered the ailment of the 21st century. Meanwhile, companies continue to adopt traditional management styles while startups invent a new style that appears more relaxed but in which employees ultimately remain in the offices indefinitely, under the guise of a gym, kitchen, or foosball table. We are still far from a genuine awareness of the social and economic interest for companies to work towards a true quality of life for their employees. This conference addresses the issue of quality of life at work from a lively and pragmatic perspective.
